    Canine - Relating to dogs.

    Carcinogenic - Cancer producing.

    Carnivore -
    Animal whose natural diet is that of meat.

    Carpus - The wrist (front leg) of dogs and cats.

    Carrier - Animal carrying infectious organism or disease, such as a virus, bacteria or parasite. The animal may not appear ill but can still infect other animals.

    Castration - Removal of the sex organs making the animal incapable of reproduction; can be used to describe both male and female animals, but it is more commonly used to describe males.

    Cecum - Blind sac opening into the colon of many animals.

    Cat flu - A common cat disease that can be extremely dangerous to cats and even life-threatening. Symptoms include sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis,, discharge from the eyes, loss of appetite, fever and depression. The very young, very old or immuno-depressed are most likely to develop severe symptoms. Death is often as the result of secondary infections.

    CNS - Central nervous system. It includes the brain, spinal cord, and the nerves leading from them.

    Cyanosis -
    Bluish or greyish colour to the skin and gums which occurs when the animal lacks sufficient oxygen.

    Cyst - Abnormal sac containing fluid.
