Frog Dissection Kit removed from Stores
A frog dissection kit has been removed from a Manhattan stores this Christmas after the store, Jack Spade, was shamed into removing the kit from general sale.
The $40 kit, which contained a real dead frog,
encouraged buyers to reminisce about school frog dissection. It contained a formaldehyde-treated frog in a vacuum-pack complete with dissection instruments and instruction booklet. Labelling featured a frog with a severed leg standing on crutches!
The store received a barrage of complaints from the US public, animal rights groups as well as animal welfare groups. It has now issued an apology and removed the kit from the store. It sold just a handful of the kits.
